You want them on that wall. You need them on that wall! Yet, our system is kicking down their walls. Our country is facing the wrath of the Mortgage Modifications meltdown in the housing market. Homeowners are struggling to find solutions and the system slowly churns forward in hopes of economic recovery. As part of the recovery process, lenders are offering loss mitigation programs created by the government and through their own business framework. The loan modification is one loss mitigation effort to help homeowners maintain ownership and remain in their homes. Depending upon the type of loan that the lender had originated for the borrower, there are varying programs and criteria to determine the borrower's ability and qualification for the loan modification.

For the past few years, banks and other Mortgage Modifications companies have been forced to try to help borrowers re-cast their mortgages- that is, get a lower rate and even lower the principle amount due on the loan, in rare cases. It is not an easy process, and, despite legislative mandates, the banks are often very, very slow to really modify anyone's mortgage.

But now, with this halting of foreclosures, I believe that it is likely that people might get a fairer shake- it may become easier to modify their mortgages and thus, save their homes. There are various parameters- constraints- that have to be met by a borrower- and it is important to consult with a knowledgeable person about that. But, the important thing is that, in all likelihood, many hundreds of thousands of homes- and the families who live there- might be saved the horrible torment of losing their homes- through the orderly lowering of mortgage payments via the loan modification process.

The various programs of mortgage modification have been created to enable the people who are in some sort of economic crisis and need assistance in the repayment of loans. These are also for the prevention of foreclosure or the taking over of properties by the lenders as was the case during the mortgage crisis when many of the homes were threatened with foreclosures.

There are many reasons for mortgage crisis as many people are pushed into financial crisis owing to huge medical bills or the loss of employment or even debts. Mortgage modification programs are there to assist such people so as to prevent the taking over of their homes or properties. These programs are for the purpose of providing relief to families who are on a tight budget and who want to regain some financial ground due to extenuating circumstances.
